Mark LT
The Lincoln Mark LT starts with a fully boxed frame. A boxed frame is just like it sounds. The frame rails have four sides that form a "box". Most all of our competitors offer either a C - channel frame (three sides to frame rails) or a boxed frame that is about half the size of the Mark LT's. The cross members (the structure that connects one frame rail to the other) actually pass through the frame rails and are welded on both sides of each rail. Most trucks have a crossmember that just connects to the outside of the frame rail and has a single weld. A fully boxed frame is much stronger and a more stable platform on which to build the rest of the truck. Adding the double welded through cross members gives the Mark LT a very rigid platform. This rigid chasis is why the Mark LT can tow up to 8,900 lbs and handle about anything you want to throw at it. It also makes the Mark LT a safer vehicle and provides a safer more stalbe ride by improving the torsional regidity. Torsional regidity is a measure of how much a frame twist as you go through a curve. The more the frame twist, the more difficult the vehicle is to handle and predict. Below, I have outlined the differences between the fully boxed frame, C - channel frame, and show how the cross members are welded.

The Mark LT has outboard mounted rear struts. This means that the struts are mounted on the outside of the frame rails. This mounting position gives the Mark LT a very stable ride. The easiest way to think of it is to think of it like a lever. If you have a focal point in the center, the lever will rock back and forth very easily. If you had two focal points and started in the center, as you moved the focal points further out, the more stable the lever becomes. It is the same priciple with the suspension on the Mark LT. The closer the suspension components are to the wheels the more stable and better handeling vehicle you will have. The Mark LT is the only luxury truck with outboard mounted suspension components. The rear suspension it's self is comprised of a coil over shock design and utilizes a rear leaf spring set up. These leaf springs are huge! They are actually off of a F-250. These large rear leaf springs greatly contribute the payload and towing capablities of the Mark LT.
What can you say about the exterior of this truck? They do not call it the chrome truck for nothing. This truck has more chrome on it per square inch than any other vehicle on the market today. It is very tastefully done and gives the Mark LT a very bold and luxurious appearance. The entire bottom of the truck is trimmed in crhome and both the front and rear bumbers are chrome as well. Inset in the boldly designed front chrome grill is a huge Lincoln emblem that lets everyone that sees you coming know that you are driving the finest luxury truck in the world. Of couse, with 300hp and 365 lb. ft. of troque, most people will be seeing the rear of the vehicle. There is another prominently displayed Lincoln emblem on the rear tailgate and large brake lights that add the bold stance.
The interior of the truck is very plush and inviting. The dash is laid out in a symetrical design with soft leather trimed and chrome accents. There are also real ebony wood accents on the center stack and doors. The Mark LT also features a flow through center console with a floor mounted shifter. The center storage bin is trimed in leather to match the seats. The seats themselves are a very high quality soft leather and are trimmed in pipping. The pipping goes a long way to break up the interior and defiently adds to the fit and finish of the vehicle.
There is only one package available on the Mark LT. That means it comes pretty well loaded from the start. Of course, you will find power windows, power locks, curise control, redundant audio and climate controls on the steering wheel, automatic air conditioner, and seating for 5. The Mark LT also features heated seats, memory feature, adjustable pedals, power moonroof, power sliding rear glass, DVD rear seat entertainment package, chrome box rails, running boards, reverse sensing system, and trailer tow package. The Mark LT has everything you would expect from a luxury vehicle.

Mark LT is also earning early praise from the auto-motive press. This past fall, the Texas Auto Writers Association evaluated the truck and SUV market-place, naming Mark LT the winner in two categories. Mark LT is the only vehicle of the more than 60 entries to win two awards:
Best Design Pickup
Best Luxury Truck of Texas
These are important honors because the Associations members represent publications from around the country, and because Texas is the nations leading truck market.
